Let Go
Poetry about letting go, grief, loss
When someone says you have to let go
What would be your answer?
Would you say,
I have already moved on from that person
Or would you say this,
I can’t let go, I still love that person
How would you reply?
Even if you say the first or the second thing
It will not affect their thinking
For they are blinded in their own belief of “moving on” would be better
But how could you move on and let go when your heart still holds on?
How could you when your heart still yearns for that someone?
How, when your mind begs you to search for that person once more?
How, when you want to turn back time and undo the damage?
How could you when you want to run into their arms again to feel the warmth?
Would you do it all again if you had the chance?
Or would you just cherish the times you had with them and try to move on?
Or would you fight your way and do whatever your heart desires?
How could you when your tears still run down at the thought of someone?
How, when you plead with yourself to give that person a second chance?
Even if your heart grieves and breaks, you still cared for that someone
You loved deeply enough for it to keep the fire going inside you
The flame of love never dying out
Even if it’s been many years
And when you catch a glimpse
Or past by that someone
Your eyes meet suddenly
You can’t help but whisper,
“I miss you.”
Come back to me.
