Leave Your Thoughts and Prayers at the Door

I Don’t Want to Hear it

Leave your thoughts and prayers at the door

They’re not welcome here anymore

Your empty platitudes have no meaning

While broken families are left screaming

*

Don’t pretend you care at all

For the bloodied bodies left at the mall

Or in the school or grocery store

I’m not listening anymore

*

You have a way to fix your problem

But that might impact your so called freedom

What’s more precious in your soul?

Children or a law that’s two hundred years old?

*

Don’t bother to answer, we know the truth

We know what is most important to you

So sit in your mansions with your lobbyists selected

And raise a glass when you get re-elected

*

But don’t you dare anymore

Let your thoughts and prayers darken my door

Nice to the point poem.. 🦋

  • Interesting poem!

  • I am sick of the lack of action, excellent words

  • Very on point. It's time for people to stop interpreting the 2nd amendment in a way that allows the immediacy of an 18 year old walking into a gun store and buying firearms the very same day. All of our leaders should have to face the families of the senseless tragedies, in person, and be sued for the continued failures to stop this. Every one of them.

  • This was so deep!

  • Fantastic Cathy. Couldn’t have said it better myself. Well done.
