The way you feel

I’ve heard it described numerous ways.

One, like you’re being electrified, where every goosebump your body has is raised to form icy mountains on your skin.

Two, like you’re on fire. Like suddenly your body is overheating, your heart races, and everything you’ve ever wanted is suddenly there in front of you.

But the best way I’ve ever heard it described as, is lava.

It’s slow, still filled with heat, but it’s the heat of strength, not the heat of the moment. You’re so mesmerized by how beautiful it is you can’t look away until you’re engulfed and that’s when it doesn’t burn your skin, it burns your soul. Your insides are alight and you wonder if anything before this was ever real. If the future you wish for could actually happen, and while you’re underneath the lava, your heart is singed with the embers of something you never thought possible.

And it’s a fire, but it makes you redefine the very essence of the word fire into something you know will forever be etched into the infinitesimal atoms of your memories. You can never forget and you don’t want to forget.

And you also get those goosebumps, but the ice involved only keeps you from floating away. You’re hot, cold, and in that moment your body is eternal. To top it off you know you need to breathe but why on earth would you pull away when the feelings that are overwhelming you make everything seem so good, so satisfying.

You’re shocked to the core, and you now understand what they mean when they say something is surface level, because you’re experiencing the polar opposite to the highest extent and you know it feels right.

The way those lips feel on mine.

About the Creator

Celestia Morelle

When I write, I connect with a part of me that otherwise doesn’t exist. She’s a flame that I spend hundreds of thousands of words trying to grasp. I hope you feel her too when you’re reading. I turn the sirens voice into art, for she is me.
