Just Friends
With a little spark
The one that has been hiding in plain sight
Something has always been there
A concealed spark yet to ignite
And now we are here, no time to spare

The long-awaited meet to convey
Those hidden feelings, reminiscing on the past
Subsequent embraces in doorways, repressed emotions on display
We pull in closer, protection from pounding rain

And now there is little to discuss
We have completed our amends
The best scenario for both of us
Return to our roots, as friends

Until we meet once more…
Our cheeks will be blushed
By our encounters before

A Glaring Omission
I made peace with being cast out by others pretty early in life. As lonely as it may sound, I don’t recall many times during childhood when those actions affected me any longer than a moment or two. Being deemed the weird/gay/weird gay freak by everyone from neighborhood kids to blood relatives allowed me the privilege of sneaking away whenever I pleased to dive deeper into hobbies that molded the proud pop culture geek and writer I am today.
