It Felt

A bit like . . you know

By Brenton FPublished 7 months ago Updated 7 months ago 1 min read

it felt

something like

wanting to put cigarettes out

on my body

a coat of many embers

...

it felt

something like

a lash across my back

a sharp brutal split second infinity

pain for it’s own sake

...

it felt

something like

my own dagger

buried, twisted deep in my chest

and another in my back

...

it felt

something like

a furious slap on the face

powered by so many confused emotions

and a fresh dollop of the latest hate

...

it felt

something like

confusion and madness

bitterness and sadness

in a thousand crazy directions

...

it felt

something like

something very precious broke

a thing of periodical fragility

damn near irreplaceable

sad poetry

That was dark, and here's hoping it feels better today.

  • It felt like everything it felt like in your poem. This resonated so deeply with me!

It felt brutal and almost like self-sabotage in a way. Incredible use of language, 'a coat of many embers'. Just damn.

But how does it feel...now? Excellent work!

  • A coat of many embers. Whew this is hot. Excellent
