Why was I treated like this?

Why?

Why didn’t you look at me?

Why did you ignore the blood from scours on my arms?

Or the blood that trickled from between my legs?

Didn't you hear my nightly cries?

Muffled by pillows and my own, bitten lips?

But no...

You didn't hear a single whisper.

Not the rustling of clothes being forced to the side,

or the rancid pant of hot breath at my throat.

You were blacked out,

Lying limp in your bed,

As HE slipped from yours

And into mine.

You didn't budge as he whispered,

Every night,

That I could make a choice.

“I can leave you alone,

And go to your brothers instead.”

What a foolish choice.

Every night, I told him to pick me.

Pick me,

Bleed me,

Rape me.

But do not touch my boys.

Do not even look at my brothers.

I held a knife, ready to cut,

ready to kill,

if his eyes lingered on my boys.

And yet...

You never stirred.

Why didn’t you help?

Why were you so blind to this Monster?

Why?

Why was I forgotten?
