Inosculated Hollow
Oh how we grow together and came apart

Our family tree
We began as two.
Each tall and unique.
Closer we came.
Not by force of wind or shifting ground.
Love weaved and intertwined.
From our roots, our trunks, we grew taller still, together.
Our lives, inosculated.
Our branches brought forth more branches.
But we suffered our affliction, our heart rot.
No one could see as we hollowed out.
The emptiness inside, something only we could know.
As the hollow grew, our branches drifted away.
The creeping death, the rotting.
We felt it but dared not say it.
Acknowledged too late.
Ruined to the ground.
Now we’re stuck together but apart.
