The brilliance faded
A gem growing dull,
Found faux in setting
An imposter amongst the rest,
Thought true
Before changing hue-
Heart palpitation in discovery-
Threats of halting-
A place holder
Awaiting replacement
As numbness grows,
The gray disease spreading
Limbs turning to mush
Fingers no longer clutching
But pushing and prying,
Ready to remove
Preferring an empty hole
To stop the spread
Of a cancer meant to infect-
A being aiming to freeze
The growth of prosperity
Intent on holding back,
Holding down with strength of
Doubt and dismay-
Confusion rendering
Finding beauty in the disorder,
Losing vision of self
As days pass
To move forward in robotic rhythm
Or cut the cord
And find anew.

the depth that you capture is beautifully written <3
When the value of a gem is confined to the gem, its value is limited. When its value is found in its meaning, its story, & how it relates to you, its value is limitless. That's true whether its meaning is founded in love or in betrayal.
