The date was 16th April, 2024. I will never forget that day for as long as I live. We woke up early in the morning and drove to the Police Station at around 6 am to pick up two officers for police escort. We drove past my village after picking up few more escorts and we journeyed onward to a remote school that we needed to visit. The school is about 3 hours away from the town but depending on the weather and road condition, it could take more hours than that.

Leaving our villages we climbed mountains covered with savannah grassland. We ventured further into the jungle and stopped at a lookout point to take some pictures before continuing the journey. Passing through huge landmass of virgin rain forest we could hear birds singing and tree crickets making melodies as if to welcome us home.

Minutes ran in hours and we eventually reached the final Cold Mountain after battling several muddy slippery sections of the road, bravely descending into valleys and fearlessly driving up more mountains on 4 wheel. The midst on this cold breezy mountain swept our faces as if to congratulate us for finally making it through.

Descending into the valley we arrived at the school and carried out our mission. Then it was time to head back home. The journey was easy as we were now familiar with the road. We arrived back in town at around 8pm in the night, with our car covered up in red mud.

Very tired and won out from the trip, we had no energy to wash the car. The next morning we continued our tasks in town still in the mud covered car. I was so satisfied moving around in that vehicle. It was the color of resilience that I could keep in pictures to remind me later on.
