If Only Things Were Different (Daydream Part 2)
"I live life for me, not in search of some-body"
I live life for me, not in search of some-body.
I found the strength hidden behind loneliness.
I am an unforgiving fortress
defending against charm and charisma.
So then why do I lay here
restless and sleepy and wishing
to rid myself of this empty coldness
that exists next to me.
---
Persisting temptations ring out from phone
and I must resist the urge to ask you
had I been this version of me
would we still be separately
dreaming under the same night time sky.
---
I can't help but imagine my hands held by yours,
Or remember the pounding in my ear pressed against your chest,
Or remember the soft and surprisingly plump lips that drove me crazy.
---
Your name is on a street that takes me back to my parents
as if it's meant to be.
Or maybe it's meant to torture me.
Appearing on road signs and business signs.
Is it really that common?
Or is it just that you're on my mind
and I see you in the little details of everything.
---
Damn you, you six foot seven man.
Every inch of you made me believe
this was a match made in heaven.
---
We were something, don't you think so?
Night time memories and movies to midnight.
Who remembers what they were about?
---
I'm okay without the ecstasy of your touch.
Without the strength you held me with.
Without the blue eyes I could drown myself in.
Without the future that could've been.
---
But I still think it's fun
playing with the idea
had you been the one.
