Icarus

you want to fly away,

to fly away with someone else’s wings?

into softer feathers…

then fly away

paste those stolen wings

take that fallen flight

And while you’re at it

Take my cage, mine and yours

that cage that

did not provide safety,

no structure, no solace

only fear of it tumbling away

Take these pasted wings

see how far you’ll go

…Someone else’s wings…

You desire to be.

Just make sure, really be sure

that I’m no longer in that cage you carry.

Icarus,

I shall catch and carry,

I will bury

each and every molten plume

after the fall.

After all,

They were someone else’s wings.

It was someone else’s flight.

For the night.
