There are days

When,

I don’t want to share the world with anybody

Such a rude, almost necessary desire.

The neighbors’ kids yelling

When they should be inside

Although it’s good that they’re outside,

I don’t want to hear them

I’m in a

Get off my lawn state some days

Don’t want to hear fights across the streets

Or hear the flash of sirens on my rearview

Inconveniences,

Big and small

Are magnified

Yet, it’s no one’s fault

They are not to blame for such contumely

Therefore,

Thou shall not punch a wall hole

Thou shall not need to raise hell

At the expense of another being

Thou shall not pass

The limit between

Gentility and incivility

Thou shall not want

Rationality,

Stability,

Empathy,

And Understanding

Thou shall want

Seclusion

In your own quiet company

For the time being
