I am learning

Slowly but surely, I'm getting the lessons.

I am learning to be okay with it.

Okay with everything.

I am learning to walk away from fights

Some of which I know I'd win

But the energy it will drain from me

Ain't worth it.

I am learning to say no

To situations that might seem so much fun

But would require more in return

I'm learning to let peace reign

In conversations that drag me down

To deep holes filled with mud

I'm learning to accept your flaws

But avoid you all together.

I accept you should be let to do as you please

But I'm not obliged to like any of it.

I may not approve of it

But my approval has no bearing on your actions.

I am learning to accept people are not the same

Your view will never be mine

Therefore I'll always keep my opinion to myself

And I hope you do too.
