I AM
This is not who I thought I would be. Before my family was captured and forced into slavery, I had aspirations of becoming a wealthy business owner or possibly a scholar and philosopher. Becoming a warrior was the furthest thing from my mind. Unfortunately, our Roman conquerors had other plans.

I love hugs - nice poem
I love hugs. I crave them. I also have to be careful with them. There are those for whom touch is a scary thing & experienced as something good only from a trusted few (if even that). Others may love hugs too, & still not want one from me. Hugs can be abusive, controlling, invasive. I prefer to think of hugs the way you have described them in this beautiful & heartfelt poem. But I have to remember that they are only these things when the recipient is open & ready to receive them. Unfortunately, being autistic it's not often easy for me to discern such things, adding to my awkwardness in social settings. That having been said, I would gladly receive a hug from you, Mariann, any day of the week. You are a treasure.
