Hold me in that way

Hold me close and never let go,

Hold me close as if you loved me,

I know you don't,

And I know you won't,

But pretend you do,

Because that's what I need,

I need you to see,

Past the fear appearing in my eyes,

Past the ink smeared down my face,

Past the fidgeting hands and rapid breathing,

I need to be held,

As if you were someone I loved,

As if we were more than just sex,

As if I was worth something in your arms,

Hold me like that.

Talk to me as a friend,

A friend who is invested in me,

A friend that can't be shaken by my insanity,

Who sees me for all my insecurities,

A friend who doesn't leave.

I’m not asking you to love me,

I’m not asking to be anything more than what we are,

But I am asking to be held,

To be held till this feeling has ceased,

To be held to a point where I even believe,

That everything will be okay,

Hold me that way.
