Winning the lottery
An absolute long shot
But even with the low chances
The benefits are a lot
* * *
Six simple numbers
That's all it takes
And many people play
Even with the high stakes
* * *
A dollar's all it costs
That really should be plenty
But many spend much more
Five, ten, even twenty
* * *
With each ticket, we hope
But those hopes are often dashed
But every so often
Someone wins a lot of cash
* * *
When all six numbers match
It really is amazin'
But not one word to anyone
About this rare occasion
* * *
The odds of winning are small
But we say when we glance,
"So you're really telling us,
That we have a chance"
