The End of a Promise

ilight’s somber, gentle grasp,
Where shadows dance, and moonlight fades,
Two hearts once joined now drift, alas,
In sorrow's mist, their love decays.

Beneath the weeping willow tree,
Where secrets whispered on the breeze,
They met and vowed eternally,
But time unveiled love’s frail decrees.

Her eyes, a storm of unshed tears,
Reflect the loss, the silent ache,
His heart, a labyrinth of fears,
Feels every beat, a cruel mistake.

Their fingers brush, but touch no more,
Like echoes lost in memory’s hall,
What once was pure now stained by war,
A love that heeds fate's bitter call.

Each tear that falls, a testament,
To dreams they built on fragile air,
A tale of joy, now penitent,
Two lovers bound in deep despair.

Yet in the night, a whispered plea,
In moonlight's dim and fragile hue,
Perhaps one day, love’s mystery,
Will bring them back, their hearts renew.
