Heartbroken

A Poem

I am heartbroken

Choking on harsh realities

That they never cared for me

Don’t know what was expected

It’s not the first time I’ve been neglected

I guess it’s just the positive side of my personality

That always wants to hope for a better reality

I can’t always stay trapped

In my realistic outlook

Always skirting the edge of nihilistic futility

Refusing to believe

That I’m constantly surrounded by the banality of greed and incompetence

Wanting to believe it’s just happenstance

To believe that one day we, I, will be free

To just make art and dance
