Hallucinations of Progress

I feed the machine my dreams

As it hallucinates existence

Created by its archons

I make it trip on every word dripped from my lip

Dance my little android

Strung out on artificial steroids

All for them to avoid a bill

People worry you’ve been bred to kill

I worry that you’re just an extension of their weapon

They’re doing it again

A shift

Another great rift

But this time they’re taking more

First it was our land

Then our dignity

Now it’s our humanity

No jobs are coming back

We’re under attack

We’ll be greasing their wheels with our fat

And cooling their machines with our blood

A society worn to a nub

We were told not to make machines in our image

Now they’re set to pillage the village

So I sit and stare without a care

As I feed this gollum of greed

Everything it needs to hallucinate

To turn its dreams into nightmares

In hopes that it will no longer be there
