To a person who is very much alive,

It's quite interesting how it seems much simpler grieving the ones who have passed on in life rather than the ones who continue to roam in the same world we're all still stuck in.

I guess it is difficult knowing that they could still appear around the corner. They could be in the aisle of Superstore while you're furiously searching for that one meal that always eases your mind, or at that club you go to for relief of the stress of life.

How could you possibly let go when they are still alive and well? How could you possibly let go if they could be walking in this world still joyous just... not with you around?

It's awful. The feelings of pretending that they're deceased just to have some sort of peace in life. But they will always still be there. You are just not making memories with them anymore.

You're not asking them to hangout, or telling them about that fantastic raise you got at your long-term job. You're not pestering them whenever you get the chance to because you're bored out of your mind. You're not telling them about the arguments you had with your parents and how it broke you. They're not your person anymore.

It's funny because you have to act as if they're literally gone from your life, but you can't. Because they are not dead.

I wish you were.
