Grieving Pit

It referred to as a grieving pit,

A place where your mind goes

And gets lost within all of it.

One day your fine,

Something reminds you of them,

And all of the sudden you're crying.

Stuck in the past,

Trying to not let it affect your now,

But all you can think of,

Is what you once had.

As if your drunk on emotions,

Losing touch with your strength and control,

Searching back for that comfort of affirmation.

Falling deeper into your emotional back hole.

Even though you know it's not right,

And your friend would kill you if they knew,

But in that moment your alone,

It’s the only thing you can seem to do.

And as soon as you hit send,

A faint relief hithters in,

Followed by regret,

Thinking maybe he won't see it

and there's no need to fret.

And then he responds,

And you wonder if he cares,

About your feelings,

Even though you put yourself there.

Why would he care,

You don't see him texting about his thoughts

Missing and wishing you were there.

You aren't what makes him distraught.

It doesn't matter,

you made the final decision,

He's locked away his feelings,

And put it in a box of conclusions.

So, when you text him,

He feels nothing like he once did,

Maybe obligation,

Or liberation,

from his relationship imprisonment.

But maybe he does care,

He responded within minutes,

Maybe there's something to repair,

Maybe his heart has something still in it.

But I don't think that's true,

And I didn't mean to bother you,

I’m just going to act like I didn't mean to send it,

Maybe he won't bite on to my emotional impairment.

So, I lay here crying alone,

Knowing there are people who care,

But in front of me is the phone,

Where I wish your love for me was still there.
