I rest my head on grandfather tree

There is only so much a heart can carry

“I am tired, Da...,

Please tell me the ancient story”

My sweet little girl, he said

The world is spinning too fast

Humans thought they could thrive

Without their roots to keep them wise

All the great warriors came before you

And lied their heads on me

Their souls pierced with holes

Dreading that never they would feel whole

You were chosen, you didn’t have a say

For the Spirit always finds a way

The soul of the world saw your untamed heart

She won’t stop calling for you

Other brave girls cried before you

And some nights, they said

“I am tired, Da...,

Please tell me the ancient story”

Through sweat and tears

They paved the way

They moved beyond their fears

To seize the dawn of a new day.

This is the story, my sweet little girl

All the great warriors have cried before you

You always knew the way.
