The Pain of Our Losses

Darkness fell across the land,

my life uprooted by the change of a plan.

Time's gone by,

and nothing has changed.

Not a day goes by,

not a day, I don't suffer the pain.

Laying my head down as a cry,

I wonder if it will ever be the same.

Life could have been good,

if only you'd stayed.

All the things that could have been,

if only you had stayed.

You didn't want to go,

you said don't make me leave.

Your last words for me to know

came before you could no longer breathe.

I never said what I should have as I began to cry,

and if I could turn back the clock I'd say I love you,

before our last goodbye.
