Games

A Love Poem

I don’t play games

My feelings are strong and genuine

I've been honest with you

Always

***

I hate the game we're playing

I've never played it before

I don't know the rules

I don’t get it

I don't understand what you expect from me

There are no fun parts

There only have been anxiety, sadness, feelings of humiliation, and misunderstandings

For both sides

***

Can we stop playing it?

Please

***

There are games that I would love to play with you

The ones we agree on a time and place

The ones we agree on the rules first

No cheating

The ones we can play drinking coffee or wine

With a bowl of chips and some napkins

So we don’t get anything dirty

But we can afterwards

***

I wouldn’t mind losing these games against you

If it’s because I’m distracted by your gorgeous face

Standing close to mine

Always
