Perfect Little Pirate
The rough, sodden rope bit into her fingers as she swung over the roiling water far below. Reaching out with the toe of her boot, she managed to catch hold of the rain-soaked railing of the ship- and promptly slipped. Throwing herself forward, she landed hard on the deck, slamming her elbows against the wood planks. The sharp yelp of pain quickly bubbled into a laugh, and she rolled onto her back, laughing up at the gray sky as a torrent of rain washed away the soot covering her skin.

I adore this! Especially the part where your hubby is a freaking badass for breaking a cycle that he so easily could have fallen prey to. So, even though I know this piece wasn’t about him (and I loved every ounce of the rest of it) I giving him a standing ovation for loving you “free as hell”! 💫✨

I love the power in this, the defiance.
I read this over and over. I didn't get the sense of it at first but I think I'm there now. I quite like the fact I didn't get it straight off because like a riddle, I've had an "Eureka!" moment and I don't get many of those. And I might be wrong about it but that's what's great about poetry - its meaning has slotted nicely into my brain under the "I understand" heading and I like the feeling that's given me. But it might not match what you meant. I love the refrain, "I love my everything that you disdain." Yep. Long may it continue.

Blimey...back to say congrats on another fine Top Story, Ms Miller. Wanted to also say that the subtitle and the image along with that title make this stand out so much.
Now that’s one hell of a villanelle. I love the title and the subtitle, and the sass. If I marry, I too will keep my name and identity—and autonomy. I love that for you. I’m somewhere between a ‘bra burning’ feminist and a traditionalist, so this spoke to me. 💗
