Fortress

A poem of fortitude

There is not a thin line between love and hate

but a fortress

Glistening green walls envelope our hearts

hardened, jaded, but oh so delicate

Some of us forget, after a time

to guard the fortress

This is when the monsters creep inside

poisoning the air, scratching and clawing toward us

Demons run wild through the fortress

Wreaking havoc

Tearing the fortress apart, piece by piece

until love and hate crash together in a tumultuous wave

Inseparable but for the rebuilding of the fortress

Better, Stronger, Protected
