Forever in Wait
By Brianna Galligan
She cried him the sea and wove him a net
To catch him should he then fall
Her hand reaching up to couple his palm
And give him the stars and all
She waned and she waxed just biding her time
As she wandered the earthly still
Her heart reaching out and yearning for him
Wishing it was his will
He glided and faded away past the sun
To hide from her shimmering light
He dodged her in effort and slithered on by
To leave her alone in the night
Yet ever she wandered she’d look to the sky
To her home forever will be
And dreamed of the lad that laid in her bed
And brought her back to the sea
She sighed and she cried as the days turned to weeks
Just waiting to hear a small sign
To glimpse in a glance the young man in those pants
That eons promised her mind
She grew colder and colder with the days growing older
Chilling her down to her bone
Yet she patiently waited, knowing he’ll come back
If only to love her in stone.
