For the Love of a Dog
Who are themselves, little hairy people
If aliens came and I met one, I don't doubt what I'd do.
I wouldn't invite them to my church, or introduce them to you.
They wouldn't meet a single friend, or ride with me to town.
I doubt I'd take them to my job, or start showing them around.
But if they ever met my dog, I know they'd be my friend,
Because dogs are loving and so true, they're loyal to the end.
He doesn't see what color you are, he'll lick you anyway,
And snuggle when you're feeling down, or had a rotten day.
Once their hands meet such soft fur, wet kisses on their cheek,
Aliens would never undo the Earth, even though they know we're weak,
Because if humankind can coexist, with so noble a creature as this,
Then they might be inclined to stay for a while, enjoying the absolute bliss,
Of counting every lucky star, to have a dog like mine;
A faithful, loving companion for life, who's light will always shine.
