Cendrine Marrouat challenged us with a theme. Cendrine said,

"The theme of this challenge is Grains of Sand.

In this challenge, I invite you to explore the world of the tiny, but mighty particles through poetry, flash fiction, short stories, and personal essays. You can write from the perspective of the grains themselves; explore their journeys, secrets, and/or roles as landscape shapers; describe how they make you feel through sensory language; or just use them as elements in your narrative. The sky's (literally) the limit."

After reading Cendrine's challenge, a favorite quote/tagline from an old soap opera on television came to mind. While never becoming a fan of the show; nevertheless, the tagline came to mind.

"Like sands through an hourglass so are the days of our lives." - Days of Our Lives tagline.

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

No Pyrola,

grains of sand

in Florida

build white sand castles.

No Yangtze,

grains of sand

in Hawaii

gingerly step on

hot black sand beach

floral scents in the air.

No bands,

grains of sand

in Egypt

over desert sands

rode galloping horse to

the Step Pyramid

of Djoser.

Yes, a dream of

grains of sand

on bucket list

pink sand beach

time is fleeting

long to reach.

Beautiful Babs! I remember that Days of Our Lives intro quite well, though I always turned the channel haha. I have a real case of wanderlust, so I resonated with your comparison of the fleeting nature of time like sand in an hourglass contrasting with the desire to see beaches of the world. I’ve long been fascinated by the different colors of sand, and you created great imagery by mentioning them.
