I met him when he was skating
and I was hanging at the park
*
As soon as our eyes met
there was a soulful spark
*
We used to talk on aim messenger
That's how he became my first love
*
Words sweet
and authentic
We could talk
about anything
anytime
all night
into the a.m.
*
Nourishing me
through my ultimate
love language
*
Words
spoken true
unrestrained
from inhibitions
*
No motives
No purpose
but to just share
ourselves together
*
I loved him so purely
from soul and heart
We never even kissed
but it was real what I felt
*
We used to sneak
each other into
Our parent's houses
Just to spend the night
together beyond a screen
*
He hugged and held me
but that's as far as it went
*
I commandeered
his hat for months
I wore it proudly
Carrying the smell
of my first love
*
Then my "best friend"
intervened with gossip
out of jealousy
and our relationship tanked
*
We didn't talk for years
Aim messenger became
a distant relic
for communication
*
15 years later
I got a message on Facebook
*
He found me
and told me he'd be in my area
and that he'd be happy
to see me
*
We picked up where we left off
in our blissful, youthful days
*
It's funny
how some things never change
*
The same silliness
The same comfort
The same words
spoken from the heart
*
15 years later
I finally kissed his lips
We went new places together
in our grown-up bodies
*
15 years later
He said
that I gave him
the best sex he ever had
Now he'll never look
at a red couch
the same way again
*
15 years later
He held me
Eyes sparkling he asked
"How did I get so lucky?"
and I finally confessed
"You were my first love."
*
Over a decade of space
and my care for him remains
He was my first love after all
and you never forget the first time
you let yourself fall
for someone unrestrained
That childish kind of love
so pure and untainted
