He held my hand; I plodded straight through hell
He kissed my lips; I died a thousand deaths
He stroked my face; I bruised beneath my shell
He stole my heart; I burned inside my flesh
He drowned me in a frigid, loathsome sea
He marched with pride for now he had me killed
He dug my grave and waltzed all over me
He broke the life I worked so hard to build
A fire’s burning deep inside my soul
The ice is sinking from my sunken eyes
I can’t take back the parts of me he stole
And all that’s left has shriveled up and died.
But look, and you shall see the golden light
Ascending from a cold and ugly night.
