Final Thread

(Trigger warning: Suicide)

By Daniel Freeman Published 3 years ago 1 min read

Throughout my life I’ve been afraid to die,

But alas, so has begun my decay.

A string has been cut, but I will not cry.

Why do you have that scared look in your eye?

Don’t worry about me, I’m still okay.

I’ll face the pain, but I don’t want to die.

Torment is met with no more than a sigh.

Severing more threads, I start seeing gray.

Another string cut, but I will not cry.

I tell you I’m fine, but that’s just a lie.

One day I’ll die, and that might be today.

For once in my life I’m not scared to die.

No going back. My spirit has gone dry.

My time has come; no reason to delay.

I am in tatters, but I will not cry.

I see your face and say one last goodbye.

Reach for my hand and I’ll shoo yours away.

Never before have I wanted to die.

I’ll cut my last thread, and no one will cry. o
