Ideal Home

Homecoming Challenge Submission

By Daniel Freeman Published 3 years ago 1 min read

What do you want, you naive idealist?

A home where you can sleep safely at night?

Does the place you desire truly exist?

Home is a place where all your worries desist.

Now wouldn’t that be such a delight?

That’s just a dream, you naive idealist.

Flee from the fight, leave your foes in the mist.

They’ll follow you back simply out of spite.

Does the place you desire truly exist?

You’re still in danger, so ready your fists.

No matter what, you can’t escape the fight.

Stop with these dreams, you naive idealist.

I speak the truth, and yet you still persist.

Nothing will satisfy your appetite.

Does the place you desire truly exist?

You want to feel safe, but here’s the big twist:

It’s an illusion; you’re never alright.

Accept the truth, you naive idealist.

You’re looking for a home that doesn’t exist.
