Fake

Poem

They’re just like bees, except they don’t have a bumble.

The tiniest ounce of fear can make a paper man crumble.

The best thing to do is forget they exist.

Don’t shed any tears, don’t open any wrists.

They’re fake, and it’s best to let them go.

You can only go up when you’re down that low.

They’re fake, no they’re not real.

You’ll find something better once you let your heart heal.

You break a mirror, and say sorry, but it still doesn’t fix it.

They’d apologize a million times, but they don’t want to risk it.

If the dead could speak, they’d tell you not to make the mistakes they’ve made.

And don’t create the same hell all of the weak have raised.

Damn the fake, they’re all still bitter.

They don’t look like snakes, but they all have a slither.

So fake, no, they’re not supernatural.

They all need love, but only look for something casual.

I held on to the rope, but it only did more damage.

In my heart, there was hope, but my mind knew there was baggage.

They can loathe you, or despise you, and still place no one else above you.

Hate’s a strong word, but monsters swear they love you.

They gaslight you, and don’t even use an Exxon.

Sure, those nails are gorgeous, but that’s only ‘cause they’re press-on.

Fake is what they are, and they’re never going to change now.

They can’t love a soul because they simply don’t know how.

There are all kinds of hands, but not all of them have fingerprints.

All of this calamity, and none of them were accidents.

They’re fake, waving red flags and red question marks.

You’re jumping in a sea full of jellyfish and sharks.

They’re fake, not one of them, but all.

Like a rainbow after a storm, there’s rise after a fall.

They’re so fake, don’t fall for them again.

Nothing makes them happy, so don’t write or call to them.
