Just The Way Calvin And Hobbes Would Do It

Once upon a time there was a girl in love with fairytales.

She read them every night and knew them all by heart.

When she fell asleep at bedtime, they would gather round her bed to play,

mingled up the storylines, each playing different parts.

*

Snow white chased poor Charolotte, with some homemade spider spray,

the famer in the dell, amalgamated scarecrow in the hay.

He used him to bed the little pigs, in the barn along with Wilbur,

for his anniversary, his bride got, Cinderella's small glass slippers.

*

The wolf stopped blowing at the pigs, and blew a sax instead,

he felt like Peter Pan, with Tinkerbell, around his head.

The Chesshire cat was chased by beast, then disappeared, like magic,

his mouth re-appeared and ate the mice, sewing a dress, the scene was tragic.

*

Rapunzel let down her hair of gold, so Jack, began to climb it,

the witch turned him into bacon bits, Hansel and Gretal threw a fit.

Just as the girl began to wake, she made sure they all returned from where they came,

except for all the dwarfs, they never listen anyway.

*

She still loves the good old classics, but sometimes she sits and smiles,

thinking of how they switch it up and try another story, for a while.

Fantastically creative and loved the interwoven switched up tales. Nothing's set in stone! 🤍

  • Fractured fairy tales of our own unconscious design. I love it!

A whole lotta' fun, and just the way C&H woulda' done it! Well done! This brought to mind an old series I used to love to watch, called "Fractured Fairy Tales" which you can find episodes of on You Tube. I also remember an old Looney Tunes musical version of the Three LIttle Pigs in which they all ended up jammin.' Thanks for this one, Kelli!
