Every night, a billion kisses go unclaimed.

Uncollected.

Two billion arms pained in being unheld

droop like unappreciated, wilted flowers.

A billion lips ache for the touch of another,

unsatiated, left dry in the dark,

while two billion hands stroke uncomfortable pillows.

Longing bodies curl up beneath the heavy covers,

Seek solace in the phantom arms of one who is not there.

A billion lonely hearts cry out for help,

only to be swept away by the deep sea of silence,

and wrapped in the enigma,

they are forced to wonder, wonder:

What went wrong?
