Earth Poem

What Does It Mean To You?

The winds blow above the sea,

Far beyond what the eye can see.

Does nature know of those who care?

Who takes their time to look and stare?

I wonder how many there are?

How many are out there so far?

All these people come about,

Only when their life is threatened,

Do they come together and shout.

They do works in praise of thee,

But do they care so much for ye?

The wondrous hills,

The caves and valleys,

So much noise, so much spills.

The waterfalls, the lakes.

The tornadoes and earthquakes.

So big and yet so small,

But you can handle it all.

When you think you've seen it all,

Some creature big and tall,

comes about staggering,

And speaking in tongues does he go blabbering.

Such a large planet with so much to do.

Does anyone else use their time for you?

I wonder so much, and yet through change.

You remain the same, and yet so little will change.

The light from the sun,

It highlights your features.

The lava you make,

will harm the nearest creatures.

So beautiful,

yet so violent.

This is a different balance,

But a balance so decent.

There is much to discover and know,

So much to unwind and unfold.

You give us many places to go.

You create stories to be told.

You're such a big planet for all that you hold,

You're so bright and bold,

But for no gravity to hold,

We'd most definitely be in trouble untold.

You create and destroy,

you build anew,

You bring new endings and beginnings,

Upon you are creatures such as a kangaroo.

The sky is so blue,

The grass so green.

If people are not aware,

They'll miss out on what could've been seen.

The fluffy clouds and endless sky,

There is abundance all all around,

There is no need to cry,

For there are roses and flowers that surround.

They bring beauty and peace,

Which some judge upon,

But with each petal's crease,

Is Earth's touch so gentle on.

So dangerous, yet fragile.

You're a mystery yourself.

So many things you carry with agile.

I wonder why there's no creature such as an elf?

So many creatures and fairytales,

So much history and heroic prevails.

You've carried enough.

Your life is tough.

I wonder why we think of ourselves?

When others need help.

They live life as if their stuck on shelves,

but there are many below who yell for their help.

So many mysteries and treasures,

So many wonders,

With you beauty lies in measures,

untold and ready to unfold.

A small action is all it takes.

For people to realize and lower their stakes.

Though some be selfish and bold,

They're the ones that lose all control.

Does anyone notice you?

Though we live on you?

Do they care?

Or will they just sit and stare?

So little people talk about you,

The importance of our planet and home.

If we don't act now,

I'm afraid we won't have a home.

So many things to be said about you,

So little time to take care of you.

The children you bear are the future, no doubt.

But the adults bring them worry and pout.

So little care.

So little time.

So much crime.

Still not enough time.

We're running out.

Some standing about.

Some are taking action.

Some lacking traction.

So many people.

So many children.

so many to teach a lesson.

And again, not enough time to work in.

Time's running out,

I know you're aware.

So are you going to care,

or just sit and stare?
