The world can be chaotic

Families growing distant

Friendships becoming stagnant

*

So many live in isolation

even though surrounded by

other human beings

caught up in the web of life

trying to free themselves

before life strangles them

cutting off their oxygen supply

*

If they lose consciousness

how long will they wait

till society develops a treatment

that cures the world of its selfishness

and greed?

How may more innocent lives

like a ghost

This desire should not make one

Why not be sensitive to how others feel?

The insistence on equality for all lives

*

Hate is a fire that grows

It needs to be stopped

before combustion occurs

*

For beneath every skin

lies the same framework

the same organs and

the same systems

giving rise to a heartbeat

keeping each one of us alive

*

We are all human beings
