Is there anything more grating
Than a boss’ hesitating
As you ask for what you’re owed and they just groan?
They make you feel the villain
To have made the proposition
Just to take a break: “It’s busy now, you know?”
But then there are the bosses
Who will tally up your losses
Never saying that your work has gone astray.
Then one day they explode
And then they’ll leave you to decode.
What the fuck you’re meant to do? They never say.
And don’t forget the tyrants
Sitting, open plan, in silence
Wearing stress and old resentments on their sleeve.
They’ll never say a word
And then insist that you deserve
Their shitty reference for you when you try to leave.
A nice boss can be hard
When they’ve a reckless disregard
For the tasks that they were given charge to do.
And somehow, though THEY fuck it,
It is you who’s told to suck it,
Always making up the shortfall that’s their due.
And a brief word we should say
For the boss’s boss today
Who might be capable but they’re a fuckwit too.
For they know your one’s an ass
And yet allow it all to pass,
Because the shit they drop will all be cleaned by you.
