Depression is heavy

Like a weight to your heart

Depression is heavy

Attaching itself like a weight to your heart

Sinking into your life and tearing it apart

Stealing your joy and robbing you of sleep

The sword of sadness cutting you so deep

Depression is heavy

Regrets and mistakes playing on repeat

Feeling waves of emptiness and defeat

You miss the times you shined with hope

Hating yourself on days, you can’t cope

Depression is heavy

Teardrops fall in a steady stream

Anger builds into a loud scream,

Smiling to mask the pain inside

Searching for a place to hide,

Depression is heavy

The herculean effort required for simple chores

Struggling in solitaire behind closed doors,

Avoiding things that hurt as self-care

Anything to save you from chronic despair
