As much as you wish

Bullshit was a dish

Concocted for easy ingestion,

Delectable's not

Exactly the thought

Foremost, following your suggestion.

~

Gadzooks! What a load!

Hey, flush the commode!

I think there might be somethin' floatin'.

Just hold up a sec!

Keep your ego in check,

Lest we weigh all the crap that you're totin'.

~

Man, we gave you the floor,

Now do as you swore,

Or did that oath slip your weak mind?

Perhaps you should stay

Quiet until you pay

Respect to The People, in kind!

~

Stay wary. Keep score,

To be sure that your

Usefulness doesn't suddenly end.

Vacations aren't nice

When you pay the price.

Xeniality need not extend.

~

(Your term need not be re-extendable.)

Zealots for their own gain are expendable.

***

Author's Note: Yeah, the meter's a little loose and I probably didn't adhere well to any form. Probably not my best poetic piece, but I wanted to try something a little more complex along with the abecedarian theme. It's also not a pretty subject, but it's one I don't often delve into, so I'll chalk it up to spreading my wings.

Thanks for reading!

This is a great entry into this challenge. I'm always up for a rant about politics. I don't have a high opinion of any of them. I watch them on the news and think these people aren't the best of us, they are the least.

I think it reads fine...meter-wise...form...whatever...this is blistering and I can see now how you connected it with my own angry rant. Well done, sir! I felt the anger and frustration in this one!

I thought it was fine. :). An actual poem. Most of my stuff ends up in poetry because I just done have enough words to hang it someplace else. Love it - and I could delve into politics - but meh… they’re all the same. Love ya bunches!!

  • Now do as you swore, Or did that oath slip your weak mind? These lines were my favourite! They sure suddenly seem to have amnesia, don't they. Lol. Loved your Abecedarian!

  • Unfortunately, so long as they are zealots to their base, reelected they will tend to be. Scoring points seems to be more important to far too many that addressing real issues & finding solutions to real problems.

HA! Take that congress-person! This poem was such a mood. I feel that mood to my core. The energy rolled off the screen and into me. Now I feel invigorated to do something. Something reckless.

I believe you said it all, be damned with non perfect meter. We forgive thee. Well done

Great job and clever! I wish I could read it in front of congress and watch them all scratch their heads or butts. It's beyond most of their comprehension.

  • WOWZA...This is a zinger!! I love it

Hi-d-bud ~ Don't know about the 'rhyme-biz' ~ Re; Topic. You should-maybe send this into your local representatives...see if they respond 'in kind'...! j-bud

I think this is the first rhyming one I've read! Masterful. They are tricky, even without rhyming.
