Cycle-Breaker
A Free Verse Poem by Keila Aartila
Cycle-breaker
The secrets I kept from you
still hurt me.
Even though my words are true,
blood feels like a noose.
***
In my silent protection,
you found solace.
In my repetetive voice,
you find threat.
***
I can’t breathe,
strangled by your cold ties.
Sobbing, I fight
caught up by a sticky web
***
of lies, of deceit.
You cry; “Look at me, my intentions!”.
Encouraged to honor,
I refuse the culture.
***
Shouldn’t it be
the other way around?
In my honesty,
your redemption can be found.
***
I was just a child,
why are you the victim?
