Crying Lies
You had me chasing rainbows
Lying together on my bed
I reached out to hold your hand,
It was so still and cold, lifeless
No warmth against my forehand.
***
I lay here and feel the warmth from your body
Which contradicts the coldness of your heart,
How strange it feels, how different it all is
To how we’ve loved each other from the start.
***
It’s like you are not here at all
Why do this to me, why
You have kept me holding on
But you only want goodbye.
***
You’ve had me chasing rainbows
When all along they were crying lies,
Why didn’t you let me know
Instead of planning this surprise?
***
You’ve rip my heart from my body
Left it to die on this broken earth,
My love has now been shattered
I know longer have any worth.
***
This time I’ve completely fallen
I can’t get up and see this through,
I’m so hurt, so lifeless
I can’t face a life without you.

About the Creator
Colleen Millsteed
My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
