Circle

A short poem I wrote as a child about a family's life circle

Rosy cheeks, tiny toes, bright blue eyes, and a button nose.

The new arrival made everyone smile, lying in her crib, crying once in a while.

Rosy cheeks, long blonde hair, little pink lips, skin so fair.

First day at school, wearing white knee socks, small hand clutching, a pink lunch box.

Rosy cheeks, lashes long and black, straight white teeth, shoulders held back.

Starting year seven, making new friends, into adolescence, it's where childhood ends.

Rosy cheeks, hair in a bun, tall and slender, makeup all done.

About to leave school, begin college and more, have children of her own, maybe three or four.

Rosy cheeks, lined face, grey hair, a slow pace.

Her life nearly over, feeling tired and worn, something was missing, then a grandchild was born.

Rosy cheeks, tiny toes, bright blue eyes, and a button nose...
