Child of Light

An individual who never fits in, seeds representing either addiction or ideas, as they grow they stand out

Once a child of light

shining o' so bright

greeting all with a smile

walking for many a mile

Venturing towards darkness

unknowingly and unwittingly

for the path before you remains bright

bright from his own luster

but he has no courage to muster

he cannot see past his own light

for he is alone in the mist

It blinds him

a grey ghost finds him

talking of ecstasy and bliss

teaching what you should say and kiss

Curiosity consumes him, so he follows

the gray ghost shows him where to go

comforting the child through the loneliness

as he walks his holy path alone

The gray ghost wasn't so simple

He knew what he was doing

teaching him how to water the sea

leeching from the seed in his wake

for the child no longer feels awake

But he can't tell if it's just a feeling he can't shake

Planting a seed within the child he left

the child knows not of what may come

He just ventures forth after the ghost

The seed grows within him

With every step a new leaf grows

At least the child can keep his smile

while he ventures forth many miles

Thinking the seed is a compass

He reaches an impasse

for he can see through some of the mist

and part of him wonders what he missed

The seed is absorbing him

dimming his pure light

The seed is holding a different might

It cuts him off

He doesn't feel sadness, only bliss

He doesn't feel shame

wondering if there'll ever be a dame

Then he finds others holy and bright

He starts talking to the seed, asking why

The seed doesn't know; it doesn't speak

He tries and tries, but he can't remove it

to rejoin the light

It's part of him now

He hides it as best he can

for he is embarrassed

His companion lacks speech

for it's just a leech

The child can see clear

his past,.his errors

but he is afraid of being alone

How can he atone?

He seeks faith

to remove the seed; that's what he needs

He remembers the first light of his light

That's what it'll take to get through the night

The seed has finally been destroyed

however his heart went with it

He tries to join the others

but he knows he doesn't belong

Trying to regain purity

he will do anything

until everything is lost

His light was depending on the seed

for it was all he needed

and how his path becomes hidden

too bright for him to see

He ventures toward the sea

to lose himself in the mist

to become another gray like the man
