The Decay
Anniversary entry for Real Poetic's challenge.
Astatine has peeled our molecules apart, turning us into walking ghosts.
Nothing can stop the sharp fingers of time bringing ten to twenty to fifty to
Never again, to the slow parade from newlyweds to newly widowed.
I cannot stop the march of time, I cannot stop it from poisoning me with
Vivid dreams of lives we were supposed to live, worlds we wanted to
Explore with our hands and eyes and silver-lined tongues.
Rest swallowed you whole and never spat you out.
Sleep slaughtered you but it leaves me alone in the desert of a world
Annihilated by greed and rage and radioactive decay from where
Reality split into something nightmarish, something brutish where
You have been taken away from me but the time won't stop.

I adore this.
As always, this was so poignant and intense! Loved your take on this challenge!
This is so brilliant. The emotion really comes through.
You fucking stun me with your mind; keep going and if the Vocal doesn't see it move on to some venue that does.
So emotional and powerfully expressed! Made me a bit emotional myself 😭
Absolutely haunting, Silver! The loss of a beloved and the feel that your own life has ended but time keeps ticking! “Rest swallowed you whole and never spat you out. Sleep slaughtered you but it leaves me alone in the desert of a world” were such intensely sad lines!
So intense and sad! 😳
