Change

The Beauty and Pain of Transition

Change.

It is scary.

Unfamiliar.

It poses new risks and threatens routine.

It challenges all levels of comfort,

All certainty.

Yet,

It's beauty cannot go unnoticed.

What you find when you know you must leave it.

What you see when you look toward new horizons.

People become souls with whom you have shared space,

Laughter and tears,

Growth and stagnation.

Truth comes out when there is no longer any time to withhold it.

Something becomes capable of being lost that you never knew you might grasp onto.

Hope comes in waves.

So does faith.

That life has good things in store.

And then fear,

That what once was will never be again.

Change is heart wrenching, soul sucking, mind-altering insanity at times.

It shows us exactly where we are and where we have been.

It shows us where we hope to go and from where we have grown.

We find that only some say goodbye.

Some things are left unsaid.

It is always happening.

Every day life is changing,

Not every day is life-changing.

It is in these big moments where we can practically taste it.

Like salt water,

Eyes closed, stinging, cold,

Coming up for air,

“Gasp”

A fresh breath is here.
