Castaway

Excerpt from "Simply Poetic"

Some call her crazy for spreading her wings

Taking off and flying away

Some ask her why

What drove her need to go away?

Maybe she’s a castaway

Maybe she’s a stowaway

Chasing down the sun and her own dream

Some say she can’t be tamed

Some say her spirit is free

Some say she’s in over her head

Some say she’s got it all figured out

Maybe she’s a castaway

Maybe she’s a stowaway

Chasing down the what if’s and living on oh wells

Some say she’s brave

Some say she’ll never make it

Some hate in silence

Some love out loud

Maybe she’s a castaway

Maybe she’s a stowaway

Maybe she’s living on a prayer,

Building a house with the bricks thrown at her

Some say she’s dumb

Some say she’s smart

Some say she can’t live this way

Some say they wish they were more like her

Maybe she’s a castaway

Maybe she’s a stowaway

Maybe she’s not perfect, but she’s not changing who she is

Some say she’s too much

Some say she’s just enough

Some say she’s kind

Some say she’s way too blunt

Maybe she’s a castaway

Maybe she’s a stowaway

Maybe she’s right where she belongs
