Crashing ocean of

Waves and water

Cannot cover

Sounds of slaughter

--------------

Fallen tube

Shattered on floor

Broken seal

Laboratory Door

--------------

Cough, fever, pain

Liquidy raspy lungs

Hacking blood

Swollen tongues

--------------

Brought forth in lab

By medical sage

Meant to cure ills

Not bring a plague

--------------

Each breath breathed in

Tinged with spores

Without a mask

Don’t open doors

--------------

Spread across continent

In cars and trains

Crossed oceans

On ships and planes

--------------

Riots in street

Hospitals without staff

Corpses now pile

As nature laughs

--------------

Gangs murder and steal

Guns and violence rampant

Greed adds to chaos

Our civilization stagnant

--------------

No smoking factories belch

No judgment rendered in justice hall

Nature reclaims man’s monuments

Concrete crumbles, statues fall

--------------

Virulent disease

Now holds sway

Someday course shall run

But pestilence had it’s day

--------------

Hunted like animals

Unable to thrive

Immune run and hide

Trying in madness to survive

--------------

Three billion dead

With few to mourn

Too busy surviving

As hope is reborn

--------------

Remnants band together

Too few too meek

Still courageous strive

To protect the weak

--------------

Gather those survivors

Leave behind suit and gown

Only hope pristine land

Far from city and town

--------------

Tents erected, cabins built

By people woefully thin

In hills and forests

Man begins again

--------------

Clear rocks, fell trees

Till land, plant seeds

Backbreaking labor

As children pull weeds

--------------

On bended knees

I pray to God above

Don’t follow same path

Leave the hate, keep the love
