I need to understand
just what it is you hold so tight
This evident remand
that shades your principles true light
This heedless disparage
that you willfully blind your sight
For justice miscarriage
that fans the flames of hateful spite
When deception gives voice
and speaks of fraud to steal our rights
The conception of choice
that true free will must reignite
This grand experiment
our fathers framed to hold upright
These truths self evident
this fragile flame that flickers bright
We must always billow
to blaze against the darkest nights

I wrote this poem three days ago after the attempted coup d'etat at the capitol I added a few verses to it...
Enough is Enough
I watched as a mob stormed the capitol
Secure in their well-fabricated ire
Seems that they have had enough!
I watched as the mobs of “the radicals”
Protests of capital punishments dire
Seems George Floyd had been enough!
Those many seeds of hate had blossomed fire
as the people scorched rebuff
Those “innocent” deceitful words inspired
The fractious flames for your conceited bluff
And in the rotunda that you defiled
The senate & congress said enough’s… enough!
And the peoples will, that you so reviled
blazed so very bright on that, our darkest night!
Enough is enough
